Overview

Dr. Jesse Isaac Wolfstadt is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in complex knee replacement surgeries and rapid recovery protocols. He performs primary and revision knee replacements at Mount Sinai Hospital and outpatient joint replacements at Women’s College Hospital. He earned his MD from the University of Toronto (U of T) in 2011 and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency there in 2016. Dr. Wolfstadt further advanced his expertise by obtaining a Master of Science in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety from the Institute for Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at U of T in 2017. His fellowship training includes complex adult lower extremity reconstruction at Mount Sinai, traumatology and arthroplasty at St. Michael’s Hospital, and additional traumatology training at Auckland City Hospital in New Zealand.

In his current role as the Division Head of Orthopaedic Surgery and Granovsky Gluskin Chair in Orthopaedics Reconstruction at Mount Sinai, Dr. Wolfstadt leads initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care quality and efficiency. His research focuses on improving the efficiency and quality of care for joint replacement and trauma patients through interprofessional and patient-centred co-design. He also performs research in the areas of infection, fractures and stiffness following knee replacement. He has collaborated on projects such as developing a regional anesthesia program and establishing an outpatient total joint arthroplasty program during the COVID-19 pandemic, and is co-principal investigator on several peer-reviewed grants studying pain control, infection and fractures following knee replacement.

Dr. Wolfstadt's administrative contributions include serving as the Medical Lead for the Outpatient Joint Replacement Program at Women’s College Hospital and holding academic positions as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at U of T.
